AB 1200 Oversight

What is AB 1200? AB 1200 is a California law created to ensure local school districts stay financially healthy and meet their financial obligations. It established stricter budget standards and gave County Offices of Education (COEs) the authority to act as financial supervisors. Under this law, COEs must review and audit district finances at least once a year and are mandated to intervene if a district faces financial trouble—especially those with disapproved budgets or negative financial outlooks.
