Program Overview
Who is eligible?
Educators must hold a valid California Preliminary Credential in:
- Pk-3
- Multiple Subject
- Single Subject
- Education Specialist
In addition, they must be employed as a teacher of record in a California public school or other eligible participating school.
We understand that every educator's journey is unique, and that is why AC-TIP offers multiple pathways to credential completion. This includes an Early Completion Option (ECO), a one-year accelerated pathway designed for experienced and exceptional teachers who meet additional program requirements. See application for more information on eligibility.
Personalized Mentor Support
Induction candidates are matched with experienced mentors based on their teaching assignment to ensure personalized, relevant support. Mentors help candidates develop a vision for teaching, strengthen their practice, and achieve their professional goals.
The program recognizes the pivotal role of Induction—not only in supporting beginning teachers, but also in cultivating the mentoring and leadership capacity of experienced educators who serve as mentors. Through differentiated mentor training, the program fosters a collaborative community of practice and provides mentors with guidance to ensure alignment, consistency, and high-quality support for every participating candidate.
High Quality/Accessible Professional Learning
AC-TIP supports new teachers in becoming reflective, lifelong educators committed to equitable outcomes for all students. To support this growth, candidates engage in high-quality, in-person professional learning, including peer observations of veteran teachers across Alameda County. We have consistently received highly positive feedback that observing teachers in action and seeing instructional practices implemented during in-person professional learning has had the greatest impact on participants' growth—more so than online professional development alone. These opportunities are also paired with protected time for reflection, collaboration, and planning.
