Vision
To ensure all students thrive in safe, healthy learning environments supported by effective, equitable school health services.
Mission
The ACOE School Nursing Department collaborates with Alameda County Public Health and community partners to support district LEAs in promoting health equity and student well-being. By building staff capacity, providing training and resources, offering leadership on health policies, and supporting health program planning and regulatory compliance, the department helps districts deliver effective student health services and maintain safe learning environments.
Services Offered:
- Consultation on chronic disease management, medication administration, emergency care protocols, and health documentation
- Professional development and training for school nurses and school staff
- Health education curriculum support
- Guidance on compliance with Section 504 (medical management), Individualized Health Plans (IHPs), immunizations, dental health, and hearing and vision screenings
- Data tracking, Kindergarten Oral Health Assessment (KOHA) monitoring and reporting, and resource sharing to support student health initiatives
The department’s goal is to strengthen student health services and empower districts to meet the diverse health needs of their students.
