Safe Pathways to School

Guided by our commitment to student safety and belonging, ACOE has launched the Safe Pathways to School program to help ensure that students and families across Alameda County feel safe and welcome as they travel to and from school each day.

As we have seen in recent months, student attendance is immediately and negatively affected when increased federal enforcement activity creates fear in the community.

We understand community members may be concerned about federal and local law enforcement presence. Volunteers are expected to be visible and welcoming to students and families, and if they encounter enforcement officers, to follow established protocols, including Alameda County’s Rapid Response Protocol.
