OPPORTUNITY ACADEMY 2024 WINTER GRADUATION

Opportunity Academy

ACOE’s Opportunity Academy serves students ages 16 and over who have previously separated from school or have been unsuccessful in school, desire a high school diploma, and will benefit from support with employment readiness and obtaining employment.

Opportunity Academy utilizes independent studies with blended learning models; incorporating computer-based curriculum, small group instruction, independent and classroom-based study options.

Opportunity Academy, in partnership with La Familia in Hayward, an organization providing Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act-funded services to similar populations, and Next Step Learning Center that provides an environment that encourages student growth and success in and out of the classroom.

We also are in partnership with REACH Ashland Youth Center who serves our young people throughout Alameda County to honor youth power and build the community’s resilience. We also are in partnership with Civicorps that provides simultaneous paid job training through their Conservation Program.

Enrollment Process

Students may apply for enrollment at Opportunity Academy sites by clicking the “Enroll Here” button to download and complete an enrollment application, then emailing the completed application, including their selected site preference, most recent consolidated transcript, and immunization records (if the applicant is a minor), to aoaenrollment@acoe.org.

Applications will be reviewed in the order received. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available space, enrollment will be determined by lottery, and remaining applicants will be placed on the waitlist for their selected site as indicated on the application. The waitlist will remain active and will be periodically used to fill available openings as space becomes available.

Should a vacancy occur during the academic year, students on the waitlist will be offered admission in the order in which their names were drawn through the lottery. When an opening becomes available, an Opportunity Academy teacher or designated staff member will contact the student and/or parent or guardian to complete the enrollment process.
